Several years ago, David Parkes stared death in the face. A man with everything to live for:
a young family, star professional footballer, and standing on the brink of a promising
pop music career, he was diagnosed with severe Crohn's disease. Having endured ten major
bowel operations, yet still in constant, debilitating pain, he was informed by his medical
team that there was nothing more they could do for him.
Out of work for months, David faced not only a hopeless future, but severe financial problems as well.
After a fund raising event run by his friends, an invitation was issued to David and his wife Anne to travel
to the former Yugoslavia where they had spent their honeymoon. It was thought this would be David's
last trip before the disease, and death, overtook him. They visited Medjugorje, the tiny village in the
mountains where our Blessed Mother has been appearing daily to a group of young people
since 1981. While there, David received a miraculous healing, both spiritual and physical. Shortly
afterwards he decided to dedicate his life witnessing to the great healing power of God.
Today, David's story is known internationally. His ministry has taken him throughout the United
States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Southeast Asia. David has become one of the
most sought after speakers, and in particular, Master of Ceremonies, for Marian Conferences and retreats
throughout North America. David has made guest appearances on EWTN, and has sung on the BBC weekly series
"Songs of Praise", which was seen by over 88 million viewers worldwide.
At the present time, David Parkes is working in Medjugorje as Pilgrimage Director for Marian Pilgrimages which is based in Dublin, Ireland. His duties in Medjugorje are varied. He is responsible for all aspects of the pilgrimage experience, including the general well being of the pilgrims and overseeing the spiritual programme. David gives a weekly concert for the pilgrims as well through the season. Irish Records International is honored to be associated with this talented man who is not only a fine
musician, but a warm, caring man whose humble faith is an inspiration.
