John McDermott and his family came to Canada from their native Scotland in the mid-1960's. His striking, pure voice was nurtured at St. Michael's Choir School in Toronto. His first album, "Danny Boy" (released in 1992), was a collection originally compiled and recorded as a fiftieth anniversary gift for his parents. In 1993 and 1994 John McDermott won Juno nomination for Most Promising Male Vocalist and Best Male Vocalist, respectively. In total, all his releases to date have sold over a quarter of a million copies worldwide.
