Ronan Tynan is quite simply an extraordinary man, an indefatigable character whose physical
disabilities only served to spur him on to greater things. Born with an ankle deformity, Ronan
eventually had both his lower legs amputated at the age of 20. In spite of this, Ronan went on to:
complete degrees from the National Collecge of Physical Education and, in medicine, from Trinity
College; win multiple gold medels at the 1984 Disabled Olympics; set up a busy medical practice
specializing in Orthopedic Sports Injuries; and, enjoy a successful career in music. Now, beyond even
his wildest dreams, he has become a household name around the world due to the
phenomenal success of the “Irish Tenors”.
